Our Story

The concept behind "Darkness to Light" was born from the shared visions and personal experiences of Hayley [AYLO] Garner and Christian [SECA] Fenn, both artists with lived experience of addiction from two very different angles, who found solace and expression in art during their own battles. Recognising the profound impact that art had on their recovery, they sought to explore and showcase the real stories behind addiction, the transformative power of creative expression and the importance of maintaining hope. Their conversations about art as a therapeutic outlet and the idea that hope comes in many different shapes, evolved into a idea for a documentary series. To bring this vision to life, they teamed up with John [Bokehgo] Slemensek, a talented cinematographer with a knack for capturing deep human emotions on film and Daniel [Bokehgo] Johnson, a talented producer, skilled in weaving complex narratives into powerful storytelling. Together, this team is dedicated to shedding light on the dark corners of human experience through the lens of art, aiming to inspire, educate and offer hope to others.
